University of Hawai‘i
Community College
Application Tutorial
Thanks for your interest in attending one of the University of Hawai‘i Community Colleges (UHCC). Please take a moment to read through the Step by Step Guide very carefully. Thanks!
First, go to https://apply.hawaii.edu/.
Click on the CORRECT campus under “Community Colleges” as well as the CORRECT term (Fall, Spring or Summer).
Please refer to the map.
Next, create an application account by creating a username and password.
Some important tips:
Keep your application username and password in a safe place.
Your application username and password will allow you to log in and out.
This will NOT be your University of Hawai‘i username and password.
Please complete the following in the “My Profile” page.
Use an email address, other than your high school’s email address (if you are currently in high school), that you check regularly.
Updates will be sent to THAT email address.
The CAS ID number (located under your name in the top right corner) is NOT your UH ID number.
Select ‘No’ under the European Union Data Protection statement.

You are doing great!
Read through each option under “Citizenship Status” and select one.
Continue to answer the following questions.
The “Change In Home” section is in case you submit an application to a specific UHCC but later change your mind. Please know that students are able to enroll in courses at multiple UHCCs with only one UHCC application. Please talk with your UHCC counselor about this option.

This is an EXTREMELY important section of your application. Please know that “Program” can also mean Degree. For instance, if you are interested in one of the UHCC’s Liberal Arts degree, you will find that under “Add Program”. You are only selecting your PROGRAM (or Degree) NOT YOUR COURSES. Course registration will come AFTER you have been accepted. I know, confusing, and I apologize but you are making excellent progress!
Please remember if you are selecting programs that require completing prerequisites FIRST like Kapiʻolani CCʻs Health Science degrees, Nursing or New Media Arts please select “Liberal Arts – Associate in Arts”. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!
CURRENT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS! If you are STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL and plan on taking courses WHILE STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL, select "Early College, Running Start, or Early Admit" as your "Program". Please use the search bar next to the word "Filter" and type "Early" to filter down your choices.
It is also easier to click on “Filters”, then select your UHCC of choice, and then select your Program. Again, questions? Contact us at kapcoun@hawaii.edu for all UHCC questions.
It is VERY VERY important that you are selecting the CORRECT CAMPUS so please double check your selection before moving on to the next step.
If you do not wish to select a degree at this time, you can choose “Unclassified” but remember that Financial Aid will NOT cover students with an “Unclassified” degree.
The “My Application” section has 4 parts – Personal Information, Academic History, Supporting Information, and Program Materials. Each section will turn GREEN when it is complete. Again, take your time and read through each section carefully. You got this!
Let’s start by click on “Personal Information”.
This section is EXTREMELY important because it determines your residency status. It would be a good idea to complete this section with your parent or legal guardian sitting next to you. Please have the following information ready for this section.
Your legal name
Social Security Number (this is IMPORTANT to avoid duplicate records)
Home address (NOT PO Box) with street number, street name, city, state, and zip code
Your birthdate or the date you moved to Hawai‘i
Currently military orders (if applicable) demonstrating residence in Hawai‘i
Again, read through each question carefully. Questions? Save, log out, and email us at kapcoun@hawaii.edu to ask ALL your questions.

In this section, we are asking about your high school information. Please have the following ready for this section.
Name of your high school
Months and years you attended at that particular high school(s)
HiSET or GED scores (if applicable)
Your MATH and ENGLISH coursework (include as much as you can because we may be able to use this information for placement into the UHCCs MATH and ENGLISH courses)
If you don't know it or don't want to use it, simply select 'NO' for both English and Math.
Your cumulative GPA (not weighted)
We don’t need to know the rank
Don’t worry about the “Colleges Attended”
If you have completed any Standardized Test like the SATs, ACTs, SBA, please include the scores and dates when you completed the Tests (we may be able to use this information for placement into the UHCC MATH and ENGLISH courses as well).
If you are a public high school student, inputting your DOE ID Number in the “High School Academic Information” Section will NOT automatically populate your courses. YOU CAN CHECK 'NO' FOR THAT PART.

You are almost THERE!!
In this section you can upload documents like your military orders, military benefits, proof of Hawaiian ancestry, proof of Pacfic Island district citizenship and/or UH Personnel Notification form. If you donʻt have them or donʻt need to upload any of these documents, click on "I Am Not Adding Any Documents".
As for medical documents, please click HERE to view how to upload your MMR, Tdap, Varicella, and your RECENT TB shot record.
Click on the Release Statement to close out this section.

This section will highlight the “Program” you selected. Please verify and make sure it is correct such as the right degree and campus. THIS IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT! Again, if you are a currently enrolled high school student planning on taking UHCC courses while in high school, your degree should say “Early Admit.”
You are at the home stretch!
In this section, if you notice that you still have a $25 charge under “Total Fee(s)”, please go back to the Residency portion of the application to review all your answers.
If you have questions, please save and email us at kapcoun@hawaii.edu.
You will know when your application is ready to submit when the "Submit All" is NOT grayed out. When you are ready, press “Submit All”, then confirm, and then check your email for a confirmation that your application was SUBMITTED. Remember, we can't process your application if you donʻt successfully SUBMIT IT.
Again, the CAS ID is NOT your UH ID number. You’ll be sent your UH ID number from your respective UHCC.
Still coming across application hiccups? Contact us at kapcoun@hawaii.edu and we are MORE than happy help!
Thanks again and please take care!
