ASSIGNMENTS/DELIVERABLES
(PROJECT PROPOSAL DUE TUESDAY, 10/31/2023 AT 11:55 PM ON LAULIMA)
This initial assignment is intended to get you thinking about the project. Meet up with your group members and come up with a project idea that fits the requirements
Write 1 page with answers to the following questions:
Who's in the group? What is your group name and project name?
What's the project about, what will you accomplish and why? (situation-problem-solution)
(a) Instrumentation? (b) System model? (c) Analysis?
What's the minimum/maximum deliverable/goal?
What's the main challenge? How will you approach the problem in the next 3 weeks? (include a rough schedule)
NOTE: Limited lab equipment is provided on a first-come, first-served basis (according to project proposal submission time). There's a small budget for each group to order additional hardware (sensors). List all equipment requests at the bottom of your proposal (with the item name/number, cost, quantity, and website link).
Prepare a 10 minute group presentation (slides). There will be an additional 2 minutes for questions.
The presentation will be evaluated based on organization, delivery, clarity, content, and questions. The presentation format may follow that of the report, with a more significant focus on the setup/model and results.
Only one person per group needs to submit the presentation.
All group presentations will take place in class on Tuesday, 12/05, from 12:00 pm - 2:20 pm.
Write a group report following the same lab report guidelines:
Introduction
Experimental Setup/Model Description
Results
Conclusion
References
Appendix
Only one person per group needs to submit the report.
The Project
Your project should involve substantial work with instrumentation components; measure physical properties of a system using sensors.
You should create a mathematical model of your static or dynamic system.
Your project should include a quantitive or qualitative analysis of your measurement.
Choose a project that you will enjoy.
The project should be of personal interest for you or an addition to other ongoing projects of yours.
Don't copy from yourself and/or other people's work.
How to calculate your project grade?
60% Project Report
20% Project Presentation
20% Project Proposal
+5% Creativity Bonus
Group presentations will be held during the last class of the semester
Each group will have to submit one final project report.
There will be bonus points for creativity (proposal design, team name, presentation, the project itself and how it is executed...)
Your group must return all borrowed equipment by the final report deadline, OR you will receive a ZERO for your project grade.
