What is the Leap-Start Experience Excelerator Program?

The Leap-Start Program is designed to add significant workforce experience targeted at Tech, IT, and Cyber program students (sophomores and juniors) in need of substantive work experience before being able to successfully compete for jobs.

There are 20+ participating employers (and growing!) who are looking for students in a variety of tech, IT, and cybersecurity fields to join them. These internships are paid (starting at $19/hour and have flexible hours during the semester and a possibility to work full time during the summer. 

Students who have completed the Leap-Start Program have transitioned to full-time jobs in their field of choice.

How Does This Program Work?

• The University of Hawaii - Information Technology Services will provide initial hiring, on-boarding, and "bootcamp" training to prepare accepted students.

• Once on-boarding is completed, participants will be paired with participating employers for task assignments of 2 to 6+ months.

• Employer will provide the participant temporary job opportunities (part-time or full-time) along with appropriate supervision for participant for task being performed.

• Employer may choose to directly hire the participant at any time during term of program.

• Participants not hired will return to participant pool for additional employer assignments after task assignment is completed.
