The Hawai'i labor community is providing financial support for the Certificate in Labor Studies Program. Labor Studies scholarships are available to union members and their families, as well as to non-unionized students who are committed to contributing to the Hawai'i labor community. The specific requirements for each scholarship are indicated in their description below.
The Hawaii AFL-CIO Scholarship provides up to $5000 in funds for affiliate staff and affiliate members to obtain a certificate in Labor Studies from the University of Hawai'i - West O'ahu. The admissions requirements credit years of service as well as labor leadership experience in lieu of recent transcripts. Affiliate staff and members are encouraged to apply. The scholarship excludes the cost of fees, books, and board and is applicable only to tuition for Labor Certificate courses offered by UH West Oʻahu. The deadline to apply for financial aid for the fall semester is July 31st. The deadline to apply for the spring semester is December 15th.
Hawaii State AFL-CIO Affiliate Staff and Affiliate Member Scholarship Application

The deadline to apply for financial aid for the fall semester is July 31st. The deadline to apply for the spring semester is December 15th.
UNITE HERE, Local 5 Labor Studies Scholarship supports its members and their families as well as students with an interest in improving the lives of working people. Labor Union Experience in lieu of college credits accepted with the following documentation:
One year of working in a labor organization, representing members of their trade, or organizing accepted.
A letter documenting this work history may substitute for the high school admissions requirement.
