Kahuaola Basic Needs Center at Hawaiʻi Community College

Kahuaola Basic Needs Center helps make college more affordable and accessible for students. We offer a food pantry, hygiene products, and application assistance for financial resources such as SNAP-EBT, HINET, and referrals to other community support programs. Staff and Student Navigators are here to help students build and maintain a strong foundation.

We understand that students must have a reliable foundation of food, water, shelter, and financial security so that they can pursue their larger life goals.

We envision a Hawai‘i Community College that is affordable and accessible for all students across Hawai‘i island.

The Kahuaola team is here to learn about the needs of our students.

Through community engagment  and partnerships with other organizations, such as HawCC Hui Ohana, we are able to support a broader range of resources for students.

At Kahuaola we strive to form a bridge between our community resources and college opportunities by connecting students to a food and resource pantry and helping students apply for support programs in areas like food, housing, childcare, and health.
