Kahuaola Basic Needs Center helps make college more affordable and accessible for students. We offer a food pantry, hygiene products, and referrals to other community support programs. Staff and Student Navigators are here to help students build and maintain a strong foundation.
"31% of Hawai'i Community College students said that they've experienced food insecurity in the prior 30 days."
"50% of Hawaiʻi Community College students that were experiencing basic needs insecurity did not apply for campus supports because they did not know how."
"37% of Hawaiʻi Community College students experienced housing insecurity in the previous year."
We understand that students must have a reliable foundation of food, water, shelter, and financial security so that they can pursue their larger life goals.
The Kahuaola team is here to learn about the needs of our students.
Through community engagment and partnerships with other organizations, such as HawCC Hui Ohana, we are able to support a broader range of resources for students.
Kahua is the foundation of which Ola-life, health and well-being blossoms.
