Here is a list of current resources. This is not comprehensive, but more so a starting point.
Osa and Dean Hedges: "Last year, we heard from a number of faculty looking for resources and assistance for students facing food and housing insecurity due to the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many also inquired about health and wellness resources both on campus and in the community. The UH system put together a UH System Basic Needs Group to compile in one place a listing of such resources and services as a reference for anyone assisting students."

Mindful Moment
If you are feeling overwhelmed or exhausted from recent events:
Notice - Acknowledge - Be Open to Feelings. There is no "right" way to feel. Do not try to suppress your feelings. Oftentimes the more we try to avoid negative feelings, the "bigger" they become. If we don't acknowledge feelings, they don't disappear, they get suppressed and stored within us. Instead, acknowledge and notice what you are feeling -- take the time to notice how these emotions feel/affect your body. Be gentle with yourself. What do you need in that moment? By listening to yourself and identifying your needs you are practicing self compassion
Connect with a Compassionate Listener. Perhaps you're in a space where you can't hear yourself or identify your own needs. In a time like this, is there a person in your life you can turn to who can be a compassionate listener for you? Someone who will just listen to you without judgment, without trying to "fix" anything. You could ask someone you trust if they can hold that space for you for a bit so you can talk and be heard. There is something about being valued and heard that can help shift our emotional state, or at least feel emotionally supported.
Breathe. Perhaps what you need is a moment to disconnect from all the information coming at you and have a quiet moment to yourself. The "Calming Breath" breath is a breathing exercise that you can use when you feel stress or tension starting to build up, or when you want to calm down "quickly."
Take a deep breath in through your nose for the count of 4 (count one thousand, two thousand, three thousand, four thousand to set a slow, steady pace)
Hold your breath for a count of 2
Release slowly, exhaling through slightly pursed lips for a count of 8
Repeat sequence until you feel calmer
Note: The key is the extended exhalation. That is what activates the body's relaxation response to help slow down the heart rate.

"...aims to give students more insight on the various (seemingly unending number of) specialties available in medicine and what it might look like to practice in those specialties here in Hawaii. I think most of us can agree that there’s just not enough time to experience them all before it comes time for us to choose, especially in the midst of a pandemic that limits a lot of our clinical exposure opportunities!"
