What is the It's Great to be A Teacher (IGTBAT) annual event?

Education as a career is open to all who are eager to inspire others and let themselves be inspired.

Many have the desire and potential to be the teachers that our children and youth need, but sometimes the challenge is just knowing where to start and who to talk to.

This event seeks to be that starting point.

If any of the below describes you, let us know by submitting an interest form!

  • Substitute teachers thinking of going full-time

  • Educational Assistants (EA’s)

  • College students thinking about choosing their major (or minor)

  • High school students getting ready for college

  • Mid-career changers

  • Those with a passion for education!

At the live IGTBAT event, you can:

  • Meet with different state-approved teacher education programs (SATEP) advisors to determine which one suits you best

  • Find out about scholarships and other funding opportunities

  • Learn about the process of getting licensed by the Hawai‘i Teacher Standards Board

  • Find out about supports and potential salary structures available when you are employed as a teacher

Still thinking and curious but not entirely sure?

Hear from these educators, administrators, and community stakeholders on why they got into the profession!
