I am a professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. I earned my B.A. in Physics from Colorado College and my Ph.D. in Marine Geology and Geophysics at the MIT–Woods Hole Joint Program in Oceanography. My research group advances knowledge about the geodynamical processesof the convecting mantle, lithosphere, and crust associated with magmatism and tectonics throughout the ocean basins. We collect and analyze seafloor topography, gravity, and seismic data, and use high-performance computer simulations as well as other quantitative methods to interpret geophysical and geochemical observations. The courses I teach are in applied math, geophysics, environmental science, and geology.
