Questions you have about the field experience
Still have questions? Add them here!
Fill out your profile completely. Add a headshot and upload an updated resumé. Your profile will be sent to field sites when you are referred there for an interview.
The wishlist may change daily! As sites add slots, they will populate into the wishlist. Read sites carefully - it is a statewide list! Read what is available in Prism or search their website to learn more about the agency.
Find it here:
Start at the Dashboard.
See Pre-Placement Tasks (on the right).
Click on Wishlist.
Read the instructions & click the Start button.
Select site and arrange in order of preference.
Add a comment for each site - Why did you select that site?
Save and submit on the due date.
Tips:
In the search menu, click "all states" or "Hawai'i," then on the "Apply" button to see the list of sites.
Note the address/island of the site. Only select sites on your island (or region).
Do not use too many search filters, as they do not always work well and may filter out potential sites.
Some agencies have presence on multiple islands/locations. Read the description carefully.
Most of all - be open to new experiences! Field is a time to try new things and expand our comfort zones!
When you get an email from Prism stating you are referred to a field site, contact the FI/SS to schedule an interview. To find field site location contact info:
Prism Dashboard
Coursework
Course name (E.G. SW391)
Placement Details
Location contacts are listed on the left/center of the page
Field Instructor and Site Supervisor are listed on the right.
It went well!
If it looks like it will be a good fit - you and the FI/SS agree, then you may do any paperwork or clearances that they need and schedule your first day. (E.G. If you are taking SW391 in the spring, your first day will be during the week of Feb 14.)
In Prism, confirm the placement. (Dashboard --> Coursework --> Course Information --> Attestations --> Placement Confirmation)
For more info about hours, etc. Please see our Field Manual and the FAQ page.
There are concerns...
If it looks like it would not be a good fit, reach out to your field coordinator ASAP.
