Philosophy of Teaching and Learning
Philosophy of Teaching and Learning
My approach to teaching draws on Freirian traditions of problem-posing education and Kanaka ʻŌiwi understandings of aʻo (loosely translated as a reciprocal sharing in teaching and learning). I try to make learning meaningful, affirming, and relevant. I ultimately hope any course I teach impacts students' ways of being in the world (beyond the graduate classroom) and their devotion to serving their communities.
Some of the courses I am teaching:
EDEA 610 - School-Community Relations
EDEA 650 - Leadership in Education Organizations
EDEA 670 - Teacher Development & Evaluation
EDEA 780B - Seminar in Policy Formation (Abolition)
