Walking into A New Life
Proverbs 16:9 may be a familiar saying to many of us. It’s a good reminder to keep in mind any day of the year, especially during these uncertain times. It is human nature to make plans—for today, tomorrow, this week, next week, the coming months and years. Some of us set our plans in concrete, forgetting that the Lord holds the final decision. Some of us hold our plans lightly, willing for God to rearrange them as He sees fit. Wisdom teaches us to ask the Lord to establish our steps and to keep us flexible and faithful as we walk into the future with Him. What lies ahead of you today? Where do you need the Lord to establish your steps as you move into this new life and this season of leadership?
In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. – Proverbs 16:9
Prayer: Lord, give me a humble heart that trusts You to guide me as I walk with You into the future. In Jesus’ name, amen.
For US
God is for us. This simple truth is one that many find difficult to believe. Even those of us called by His name may find it hard to believe at times. Moses did. One of the greatest of God’s servants struggled with feelings of inadequacy, disillusionment, and discouragement. And when he did, he wasn’t afraid to call out to God. God responded to Moses at his point of need. He will respond to us, too, speaking the words He knows we need to hear. Pour out your heart to Him. Then listen to what He has to say next.

Moses returned to the Lord and said, “Why, Lord, why have you brought trouble on this people? Is this why you sent me? Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble on this people, and you have not rescued your people at all.” – Exodus 5:22-23
Prayer: Lord, thank You for hearing our heart cries and meeting us at our point of need. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Free-flowing Obedience
Obedience to God flows from trust and love. Obedience invites God into our life and leadership and opens the door for God to work through us. It allows God to show the world who He is and how He works. The obstacles of fear and pride keep us from taking God at His word and doing what He tells us to do. They limit God’s ability to use us to accomplish His will. Humility acknowledges that we don’t know everything and that God just might have a better idea than we do. Confidence in who God is reminds us that He is trustworthy and gives us the courage to do what He says to do. Jesus knew the joy of obeying God. Do you?
Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.” – John 14:23
Prayer: God, lead me to wholeheartedly trust, obey, and serve You today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Leaders Watch
Leaders take action. We see an opportunity—people to develop, circumstances to change, a God-given vision to pursue or perspective to impart—and we step up. It may be a need at home, in the church, in our workplaces, or in our communities. God calls us to be involved. His Spirit empowers us to live as His people for His purposes. Where is God calling You to be involved in making His world a better place?

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:14-16
Prayer: Lord, lead me to light the way for others to see and exalt You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
An Example to Follow
There is only one perfect leader—the Lord Jesus Christ, the Divine Servant, Son of God, Son of Man, God’s Promised and Anointed One. In Philippians 2:5-8, Paul describes Jesus’ divine nature and humility, His servant nature and humanity, and His selfless, sacrificial obedience. He urges the Philippian believers to become like Jesus, to adopt Jesus’ mindset and to emulate Him in their relationships with one another. Paul intended the Philippians to take his words (and Jesus’ example) seriously. And he says the same thing to us today. What difference will Jesus’ life and example make in your leadership today?
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: … – Philippians 2:5
Prayer: Holy Spirit, do Your work in me, the work that You alone can do, the work You know I need. Touch my heart. Open my mind and transform my perspective. Show me where I need to take Paul’s words and Jesus’ example seriously. Empower me to serve like Jesus, in Whose name I pray, amen.
Beyond the World's Wisdom
Jesus knows the vast gap between the state of the world and the life God intended. Time and again, He exposed the limitations of the world’s wisdom and clarified what it looks like to live as God’s people. His life and words still inspire and challenge us to be shaped by God’s love and values, not the world’s. He led by example and called others to do the same. What difference will your words and example make today?
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” – Matthew 5:43-45
Prayer: Jesus, lead me to love with God’s love and wisdom and to lead like You. Let God’s values shape my life and leadership this day. In Your name, amen.
Focus on Jesus
Lead like Jesus offers a variety of insights and tools to become Jesus-like leaders. All of these are meant to point us to Jesus and the life-transforming power of His Spirit. Scripture provides example after example of Jesus in action—serving, loving, training His disciples, intent on accomplishing the Father’s will—as He addresses the needs of those around Him on a daily (even hourly) basis. As we spend time in His presence and focus on Him, we increasingly become like Him. Our hearts, our perspectives, our methods, our lives and leadership will become molded to His image by the power of His Spirit. Are your eyes on Jesus?
And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. – 2 Corinthians 3:18
Prayer: Jesus, transform me to be more like You. Lead me as I meditate on Your goodness and character. In Your name I pray, amen.
