An extensive set of NTA indicators and documentation are available on the NTA website https://ntaccounts.org/s/indicators. National Transfer Accounts have been combined with population projections for the world available from the UN. Values are available for 185 countries annually from 1950 to 2100.
The support ratio is the number of workers relative to the number of consumers. The number of workers is the population adjusted to incorporate age specific data on labor force participation, unemployment, hours worked, and wages. The number of consumers (effective) is the population adjusted to incorporate age specific data on per capita consumption. Calculations are based on NTA estimates for 185 countries.
The support ratio measures the direct effect of changes in population age structure on standards of living. The first demographic dividend is the rate of growth of the support ratio and is a measure of the direct effect of changes in the rate of growth of the support ratio on the rate of economic growth as measured by consumption per effective consumers.
