Where Hunking's From
help us to Celebrate our diversity
The Student Council Mission is to create a happy and welcoming school where:
everyone's ideas are important
all students are listened to
everyone feels like they belong
During Multicultural Night, we aim to celebrate the diversity of our Hunking community and encourage a sense of pride in our cultural backgrounds. To do so, we are asking for your help in composing a crowdsourced poem in the style of “Where I’m From” by George Lyons.
In her poem, Lyons shares descriptive images that reflect on the significance of family, heritage, and community in shaping who she is and where she comes from. We hope families will contribute meaningful lines that reflect their heritage to enrich our collaborative poem.
Please, consider submitting a line or two describing your unique family background: a tradition, cultural celebration, foods, dances, music, dress, language, etc. See the original poem below and some example lines from our 8th grade students.
To enter, use the Google Form link at the bottom of this page (a sentence stem to help you get started is provided).
Deadline: March 12th
*There will be an opportunity to add a line during the Multicultural Event on March 14th
