You may remember that a quadratic equation has an x2 term in it. Quadratic equations that are set to zero can be solved for x by either (a) factoring, or (b) using the quadratic formula. In this module we will examine factoring.
This first video demonstrates examples where b = 0, c = 0 and a = 1.
This second video demonstrates examples with all three terms and a > 1.
For those students who are familiar with the CPM program and learned to factor and find roots of quadratic equations using the methods introduced in that program, you will really appreciate the following videos produced by Mr. Bridge. If you had not gone through the CPM Algebra I experience, please watch these anyway - you will learn an innovative and most effective way of dealing with quadratics. Enjoy and Learn!
The first video deals with simple factoring techniques.
The second deals with finding the vertex, the y-intercept and the x-intercepts, if any.
Finally, the third video demonstrates how to use the Zero Product Property to find roots.
