Week 5

LEGO Spike

We have had the privilege of using LEGO spike over the past two weeks where we have learnt how to build basic structures.

At the end of our two sessions, teams modified their robots and raced against other teams to see who's modification worked best.

Soon, we will be learning how to program our robots to follow basic code.

SNAG GOLF

We have been learning how to put and wedge a golf ball this week at snag golf! We will continue to brush up on our technique over the coming weeks.

Room 16 found it great to get revenge on their teacher by using me as target practice. Well done Finn for managing to hit me with a golf ball!

Rory Mcllroy, watch out!

Week 4

The learning style quiz results

Left: Physical learners. Middle: Visual learners Right: Auditory learners

What kind of learners are we?

This week, have been learning about different learning styles and took a quiz to find out if we learn best by listening, seeing or doing. Our results were pretty impressive!

Next, we read through different learning styles and chose which learning style we thought best suited us. We learnt a lot about how we are all different and unique and not one persons brain is wired the same as ours.

Reminder: Please remember to fill in and sign the reading log at the back of your homework book each day. This helps us keep track of your child's reading habits and books they are interested in.

Week 3

Neurologist visit

This week, we were lucky enough to have a neurologist come in and talk to us about our brain! We got to see how the brain makes our body do things without us having to tell it to do something - like breathing and making our heart beat.

Reminder: Please remember to fill in and sign the reading log at the back of your homework book each day. This helps us keep track of your child's reading habits and books they are interested in.

We have been learning some great maths games to help us with basic facts recall and reading large numbers.

Week 2

Our first homework sharing

We love sharing our homework with our friends in Room 15 and Room 14. This week, we shared our Me boxes and learnt heaps about our friends.

Well done for the excellent effort everyone went to to create their me boxes.

Week 1

Welcome to the very first week of school! I am so excited to get to know each one of your lovely children over the course of this year. A special welcome to all our new students who have joined Hauraki School.

We are spending the week getting to know everyone in our class, learning about the Treaty of Waitangi and setting up good, healthy habits for the year.

Let the fun begin!
