German 2

Course Outline

German 2 is a course designed to bring students towards the NYS Checkpoint B level of language performance.

Goals of the Course

  • Strengthen foundational skills acquired in Middle School/German 1

  • Deepen and expand student's knowledge of vocabulary, grammatical accuracy and confidence in communication.

  • Prepare students to enter Level 3 (FLACS Checkpoint B)

  • Build students' appreciation and love for the German language

Description of Proficiency goals According to the Common European Framework/ACTFL Standards

B1 Threshold or intermediate low

  • Can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.

  • Can deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling in an area where the language is spoken.

  • Can produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest.

  • Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
