• I created a light show using the Circuit Playground Express because I wanted to combine technology and creativity to make something fun and interactive. The Circuit Playground Express has built-in LED lights that I can program to change colors and patterns, making it perfect for a light show. I used coding tools like MakeCode to design the show, and I had a lot of fun experimenting with different effects. The lights can blink, fade, or even respond to things like motion or sound, which makes the show dynamic and exciting. This project helped me learn about coding, electronics, and how to create something that people can enjoy. It was a great way to use my imagination and learn new skills at the same time!

• During this process, I learned how to program a Circuit Playground Express, which was a really fun and educational experience. My project is particularly tied to the "Innovative Designer" standard because I created it entirely on my own, using my creativity and problem-solving skills to bring my idea to life. This process of designing and developing my project reflects the principles of innovation and originality emphasized in this standard. 

• Throughout this project, one of the biggest challenges I faced was getting the code to work correctly. At first, the code wasn’t functioning as expected, but I was able to solve the issue by carefully moving things around and testing different solutions until everything started working as it should. Looking back, if I had the opportunity to redo the project, I would change the color of the light. The reason for this is that I’ve since realized that I’m no longer happy with the color I originally chose. I feel that a different color would better match the overall design and improve the final look of the project.

Hastings High School’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program offers a wide range of courses, including Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project specifically connects to the Digital Multimedia CTE program, as it involves creating and working with digital content. Additionally, it ties to careers in computer programming because I used coding to develop and refine various elements of the project, applying the same skills that computer programmers use in their work.
