Using tinfoil, I created a boat because the class assignment was to build a tinfoil boat that could hold pennies
During this process, I learned about the laws of buoyancy and how the design of the boat affects how much weight it can hold.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered Learner because I was provided with a certain amount of tools and worked when the tools were provided.
A challenge I overcame on this project was staying motivated when a lot of my designs swamped and later sunk. I was able to do it by trying different designs.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the way I think. The reason why I would change it is because sometimes I would have negative thoughts that would discourage me or distract me.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering CTE program at Hastings High School.
My project connects to careers in engineering design because I had to engineer an idea an then build it or improve it.
