My creation is a simple yet fun roller coaster based off "The Bee Movie". You can be greeted be your favorite characters and ride around to see the rare and endangered species "Barry B. Butterflies". In this project I learned that even if everything you make never works out, you should always try again even if you won't get a good grade, you have to still try because you will always know you did your best. I wanted to add in an interactive part with a bear, so I explored some codes so that when you clicked the bear, a bunch of butterflies appeared. In the end, I decided the bear didn't go with my theme, and I got rid of it. There were a lot of things I decided not to add, and the Bee walls were one of them. After a while, I realized I could get copyrighted, so I turned the bee walls into buildings from the library. I added in a roller coaster because I wanted to explore moving objects and timing when and where they move. Later on, I decided to get rid of what I was hoping to be a gift shop it was unnecessary I decided to change the theme from roller coaster to parkour game because I was unable to figure out how to sit on the bus for the roller coaster After a while I decided to change my world completely. In the new version you have to save Barry's cousins. You have to do some parkour and press a button to release Barry's cousins. I chose this as my final idea.
My project ties to a few of the MITECS standards. I think they tie to: Innovative designer, and computational thinker. I think it ties to Innovative Designer because I innovated to make my VR world move and work the way I wanted it to. I think it ties to ties to Computational Thinker because I used problem solving to help fix the problems in my world.
A challenge I overcame in this project was making items move, and not try to quit in the middle of working on the project. I learned that to succeed I have to go through trial and error. You can't get a final product without working hard for it.
A challenge I overcame was being able to time when somebody says something in my world. I overcame this by experimenting with the codes. This helped me make my world better by making timing piece together with the story.
Something I would do differently would be to get an idea and stick with it. I would do this because changing the plot/idea can waste time. I will keep this in mind for next time.
A CTE career connection to this project is technology and engineering. This is because you use both technology and engineering to code.
Here I am, positioning the bear.
In this picture, I'm setting up what one of the characters will say.
Here, I am showing how the roller coaster would've looked.
Here is the redesign of the roller coaster theme.
This screenshot shows the redesign of the intro/welcome to the game.
In this final screenshot shows the new code, and what the world now looks like.
