Robin Farrell earned her BA in Philosophy from Colgate University, MAT in Childhood Education from Manhattanville College, and MSEd in Literacy and Special Education from Long Island University. Mrs. Farrell has been elementary teacher for 19 years, teaching first through fourth grades as the general education teacher in English as a New Language (ENL), Integrated Co-Teaching, and other classroom models. She is currently the K-4 STEAM teacher at Hillside Elementary School where she teaches collaboratively with classroom teachers to help build their capacity in this STEAM content areas. Mrs. Farrell leads biannual family nature walks with each class, aligning students’ walks to the NYS Science Learning Standards using place-based, hands-on learning experiences. She mentors new teachers in her district, is a member of her school’s Safety team, and is the Elementary Science Facilitator and Technology Facilitator. Mrs. Farrell is a current member of the Science Teachers Association of New York State and the National Science Teaching Association. Eleanor Duckworth’s words, "Learning is messy," reminds Mrs. Farrell to design learning experiences that allow students to grapple with new understandings. Her family has been a dog foster family for over ten years, providing over one-hundred pups with the love of a family before finding their fur-ever home.
