The student council has been working hard to get homecoming week to be a success. On Monday we started the week with dress up as a Fashion disaster. Wednesday the dress up was dress as you did during Covid. Tuesday was the coronation where Brooklyn Dockter and Frank Richter won King and Queen. The boys theme for coronation was Dumb & Dumber, which was not really a surprise to many. The girls looked amazing in their dresses! Congratulations! Thank you to everyone that came to support these hard working students.
Since school has started the seniors have been busy from doing 11 page math tests ( we are not kidding ) to writing long English essays. In AG 3 the students have been working with plants where in Ag Mech they have been making dowel boxes. In Anatomy we have created a tissue model of the epidermis and dermis layer, which we will be presenting to teachers.
In Cyber Security the seniors have been writing phishing emails to famous people ( just an assignment; we are not trying to scam people ). Independent living has surely been a fun class because Mrs. Walsh took all seniors to the Hostfest in Minot. They had a lot of amazing food, and cool trinkets!
Problems of Democracy (POD) has been a challenge. You can always find the POD students either having a debate, being part of group discussion or taking a quiz in class. We are always doing something in POD. On the 30th the POD class will make their way up to Rugby to participate in the legal process.
The seniors have been working hard to get their float ready with long nights of working on it. The theme is, “Panther Season Now Open”. Our float will definitely look amazing. There were a lot of cool outfits this week by mainly Sabrina and Kasey, good job girls! Friday will be the most eventful day of the week and we can't wait. Bright and early in the morning we are starting the day with powderpuff and right after that we have class games in the gym. At 12:00 the classes will start to get together to get on their floats and head off to the parade. On Friday night you can spot most of the seniors on the bleachers in the student section cheering on their football theme dressed up in their best Hornet Spirit. Good luck to the football players at the game !!

The first month of school has been a busy one for the junior class.
In classes, they are learning about the Gilded Age, learning trigonometry, and are using scientific experiments to solve real life criminal cases in chemistry! They are currently reading the book The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls that allows them to step into another walk of life, deepening their view on homelessness in America.
Mark your calendars, the junior class craft fair will be held Saturday November 15th, 2025 in the HHS gym! The time of the event has not yet been decided so be sure to check back in at a later date!
Come support the volleyball players at home on October 7th, 9th, 13th, and 24th! It has been a rough sports season for the junior football players as many face broken bones, a torn meniscus, and illness. Watch the Hornets football team at home on October 16th!
On the bright side, homecoming week has brought many laughs to the halls of Harvey High School with our wacky dress up days! As they say, laughter is the best medicine! Come out and support the Hornet Football team at 7:00 pm but be sure to get there early as the stands are sure to be packed!

Freshman year flew by and now we are one year closer to graduating. The sophomore class of 2028 is already busy with many things whether it's sports or schoolwork. So far this year has been entertaining to say the least but, it has also been exhausting.
Algebra 2 has been as boring as always but Mr. Storbeck always tries to bring up our moods with his six, seven shenanigans when he’s not teaching us how to multiply matrices. I don’t think Mrs. Buchmiller has ever been more frustrated with her board and iPad not connecting. Notes have been a struggle these past few days. Unfortunately this is our last year with her and we all know she's going to miss us. In AG we have done demonstration speeches, and now we are learning about wildlife. We finished a wildlife animal project a few days ago.
We’ve been reading “To Kill A Mockingbird” and so far it's been pretty good. Many of us have been creating theories of what will happen and hoping we will watch the movie when we’ve finished reading. Next door to Mrs. Dockter we have the sophomore homeroom teacher, Mr. Rask. He’s typically fun to have around considering we didn’t have his class last year.
Homecoming week is finally here and I’m so glad it is. Sadly we only have 2 left after this year. These dress up days are a blast. Starting off the week as a fashion disaster then moving on to west coast vs wild west. Next is COVID throwback on Wednesday and generations day on Thursday, then it is finally Friday - Spirit day. Everyone covers themselves in purple and black to support the HWC Hornets Football who will play the Rugby Panthers starting at 7pm. Our class worked very hard on our float. Powderfuff Football is one of the best things about homecoming; it is fun and competitive. Come be loud and cheer on our boys!

This month the Freshman have been busy building stools in ag class, and learning how to make baked goods from scratch in FACS. The volleyball girls are hard at work this season and the football boys as well. In Physical science we’re busy learning about the scientific process, with a simple candy sorting experiment, then we created graphs to display our data, our next experiment is bottle boats powered by vinegar and baking soda.
Our class has elected Ian Haldorson as president, Daizee Loen as vice-president, and Elliot Krenzel as the treasurer. We’ve also been busy brainstorming our homecoming float for the parade. Some of our class is involved in student council, and they’re very busy with homecoming prep.
Currently we are doing our class fundraiser; selling chocolate bars to raise money for our senior prom. The 9th grade class is wishing a great homecoming and school year to all… oh, and we’re coming for the spirit award!

UPDATES COMING SOON
It has been a busy month for the 7th graders. At the beginning of September the 7th graders had their first Math quiz and tested their brains in STAR Testing for both Reading and Math.
In Science they have been working with microscopes and have a test during homecoming week.
The volleyball girls have been busy on the road getting to play in their first tournament of the season at the Carrington Jamboree. Both 7th grade teams played great with one team winning 5 out of 6 sets. The football boys have also been busy playing and putting in some hard games. Going up against Velva, Belcourt, and Carrington. Carrington’s game was a hard loss but they are looking forward to their next game against Bottineau.
