Mrs. Karissa Lang serves as the Elementary Curriculum Coordinator for Hartselle City Schools, bringing with her a wealth of instructional leadership experience gained throughout her career in public education. Prior to stepping into this role, Mrs. Lang served as Principal of Crestline Elementary School, where she guided teachers and students with a steady commitment to academic excellence and a strong school culture.
Throughout her career in both Hartselle City Schools and Decatur City Schools, Mrs. Lang has been recognized with numerous awards, including the 2023 NAESP National Distinguished Principal Award and 2024 Terrel H. Bell for Outstanding School Leadership, honoring her leadership and dedication to student success. Her experience as a building-level administrator gives her a practical, classroom-centered perspective that she now brings to curriculum development and instructional support across the district's elementary schools.
Mrs. Lang is married to Aaron Lang, and together they have three children and one grandchild. She is passionate about supporting teachers and creating learning environments where every student can thrive.

Dr. Joshua Swindall serves as the Director of Teaching and Learning for Hartselle City Schools, where he oversees curriculum and instruction, assessment, professional development, educator certification, federal programs, and alternative and virtual learning across the district. Prior to stepping into this role, Dr. Swindall served as HCS's Secondary Curriculum Coordinator, where his leadership in expanding virtual learning opportunities earned him the Alabama ACCESS Administrator of the Year Award, presented by the Alabama State Department of Education.
Before joining Hartselle City Schools, Dr. Swindall built a diverse and accomplished career in education, serving as Head of School for Cullman Christian School, as a district administrator for Cullman City Schools overseeing Federal Programs, Career Technical Education, and Technology, as an assistant principal, and as a secondary math teacher. Throughout his career, he has been recognized with numerous educational accolades and honored as an outstanding young leader in the field.
Dr. Swindall holds a Doctor of Education degree and brings nearly two decades of experience in education, curriculum leadership, and instructional coaching to his work. He is passionate about servant leadership and building strong professional learning communities that support both teachers and students.
Dr. Swindall and his wife, Ashtin, have been married since 2007 and are the proud parents of five sons — Everett Isaiah, Emmett Josiah, Ellis Haddon, Elijah Kent, and Ezra Benjamin. The family resides in Cullman County and attends Crosshaven Church in Hanceville.
