Brenda Hernandez | ILP Lead

Hello, my name is Brenda Hernandez, and I am your primary point of contact for any matters related to the Independent Living Program. 

I am a first-generation college graduate from UC Davis, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and a minor in Education. As someone who’s been through the ups and downs of figuring out life after high school, I’m passionate about helping youth like you navigate your own journey into adulthood.

Marisela Lemus | Program Coordinator

My name is Marisela Lemus, and I am the Program Coordinator for the Foster Youth Success Services programs—Guardian Scholars and Next Up at Hartnell College. I am proud to be part of this amazing program that supports young adults like you.

I firmly believe that education is an investment in oneself. This belief has been shaped by my own journey—starting with an A.A. and transfer from Hartnell College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Human Communication from California State University, Monterey Bay, and completing a Master’s Degree in Education with a focus on Educational Leadership.

As a first-generation, low-income female college student, my path was not easy. I faced many challenges along the way, but those experiences helped me discover my passion for helping others achieve their educational and personal goals.
