Unit 1 - Bio Basics

Overview

This unit is the foundational understanding for every other unit in biology. Content covered in this unit includes: a review of lab safety and equipment, measurement, the nature of science, designing a scientific investigation, the technological design process, chemistry of life, water properties, and macromolecules.

Next Generation Science Standards

HS.LS1.2 - Develop and use a model to illustrate the hierarchial organization of interacting systems that provide specific funcitons within multicellular organisms.

HS.LS1.6 - Construct and revise an explanation based on evidence for how carbon, hydrogen and oxygen form sugar molecules may combine with other elements to form amino acids and/or other large carbon-based molecules.
