Hello! My name is Amy Arrick. I am an Instructional Strategist at the HMS Elementary and I am currently in my 29th year of teaching, all of that time has been spend at HMS. GO HAWKS!!!
I was born, raised and continue to live in Primghar, IA. I graduated in the last class of Primghar High School. I received my undergrad degree at Wayne State College in Wayne, NE and my Master's Degree from Morningside College in Sioux City, IA. Growing up my parents always placed an importance on education. While I was in elementary and middle school, my dad and mom both attended college, one for construction and the other for nursing. They set the example that education could help you achieve your goals no matter when that took place in your life. Their example and high expectations set me up for success in my educational life.
I am the oldest of five children. My sister, Shannon, and I grew up together being 21 months apart. Later, after we both graduated from high school, my parents adopted three boys through the foster care system. With the three boys came a new appreciation and understanding of those with special needs. Now not only can I approach special education from a professional standpoint, but a personal one as well. Our lives have never been the same since they joined our family and we wouldn't change it for the world.
Please let me know if there is anything you need that I can help.
Have a great day!
