Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year!!  My name is Mark Japenga, I will be starting my 32nd year of teaching.  This will be my 19th year at HMS.  I am married to Kathy Japenga who teaches 3rd grade at HMS.  Between us we have 5 fantastic kids and 5 amazing grandchildren named Alayna Kate, Veda Ann, Myles Thomas, Louis Jordan and Hallyn Faith who made her appearnce this October!!

  I will be teaching in the resource room again this year.  We will work on the re-teaching of material and or difficult concepts, as well as building skills.   I also have the pleasure of teaching Health again this year, the calendar will show what is being taught and the assignments that are due, as well as upcoming projects, quizzes and tests.   There are 4 expectaions that we will strive for at HMS.  WE will be respectful WE will be distraction free, WE will be prepared and punctual and WE will be engaged.  If you have any questions concerning the resource program and Health class, please do not hesitate to call or e-mail me.
