High School Band
Overview
High School Band is a culmination of everything we are working on throughout the year and everything worked on in previous years. We start with marching band in August until October and maybe November pending state football qualifications. Then we transition into concert band to work on our concert. Along with concert band is jazz band which will meet before school and we will perform at concerts and some competitions. In the Winter basketball starts which also means pep band starts and we perform at varsity girls and boys games. Spring will bring solo/small ensemble contests. Then in May, after graduation, we start setting the foundation for marching band and figure out what are next steps are. Throughout the year there are honor band opportunities where select students get to participate in ensembles with other students in the state. Some honor bands are nomination based and others have an audition to be accepted into the honor band. If you are interested in participating in an honor band talk to Mr. Yenzer so we can make a plan and talk about materials. There are approximately 4 indoor performances as well as performing at all the activities like football and basketball games.
