Minimalist Film Poster Design
Welcome to the Year 11 Get Ahead page.
An easy task to get you started into the world of Graphic Design is for you to redesign an iconic film poster from the 1980's, or could be from any era you wish to use.
Minimalist film poster designers are a huge community of designers who take a normal film poster and redesign it using simple silhouette graphics of their own choice.
Here are some examples of their work.

I would like you to try and see of you can design your own minimalist film poster. I have included some examples above of the types of posters that have been produced.
You can either design on plain paper that you might have at home or if you have a computer/tablet or phone use a program called Photopea.
To access Photopea you can either google search for it by typing in 'Photopea' or type this web address in. www.photopea.com/
Photopea is an online graphic design program that is similar to Adobe Photoshop. A lot of the tools and functions are the same. Its a great free program and something our students use on a regular basis.
I have included some instructional videos to help you get started with the program and how to set up a page ready to use. I have also included several pictures that you could use or assets.
Try and follow the videos and re create the poster, putting your own style on it where possible.
Let me know if you have any problems, just email me christopher.atkinson@hartlepoolsixth.ac.uk
Good Luck!
Here are the 2 picture files I have used in the example. Just right click over each one and choose save as. save it on your PC and use it in the example below.
This video will help you to find Photopea in your browser and then to set the page up.
This video will help you to input the images into Photopea
This video will show you how to add text to your poster
This video will show you how to add some special effects to your poster in Photopea
If you have created the first poster you will now be experienced at working with Photopea. Now choose a film of your own and have a go at creating a poster of your own.
Whatever you create, make sure you save this and please upload it to me so I can have a look. The video link opposite will hopefully give you some inspiration.
Any problems just let me know

Task 3 The World Cup Poster
For the next task I would like you to try and create a world cup poster. This will allow you to use some of the more advanced features of Photopea. I have included an Assets file which you can download and I have also included an instructional video on how to create an image.
Here is an instructional video on how to create a more advanced poster using the photopea program.
Here is the Assets file, if you click on the arrow in the top right corner, this will open the file up. Then click on the download icon in the top right corner, its the downward arrow. this will save the file to your computer. Once downloaded goto Photopea and open the file up. Happy creating!
