Buddies Club is here to support students with disabilities and students without disabilities while forming new friendships in a nurturing, fun environment.
Buddies Club at North Shore Middle School is basically a social skills club with a little bit of service learning built in. The goal is to bring students with and without disabilities together. It is not the national Buddies program that is active at AHS and other local high schools. It just happens to be our name at NSMS that was started years ago. We partner with Special Olympics Wisconsin as a Unified Champion School. They provide some funding and programs/activities that we can do to become a more inclusive school environment.
Some of the possible activities we will do this year:
*Make gifts for residents at the assisted living facility
*Visit an assisted living and sing holiday songs and socialize with the residents
*Run the "Spread the Word" inclusion event at school where we invite all students to sign a pledge to be kind and include others (t-shirts ordered through special olympics and offered for the entire district and families to purchase to show inclusion)
*Host incoming 5th graders with special needs during a pizza lunch and scavenger hunt around NSMS
*Run a donation drive for Lake Country Caring in spring
*Attend at least one Special Olympics Unified Champions Schools social event (field trip during the school day)
The program will consist of one after school activity (3:15-4:15pm) most months except for a few scheduled during school hours in December, March, and May. Meetings will be held in Room 501 at NSMS.
Students should be picked up at the main school entrance at 4:15pm for the after school meetings.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact the club advisors, Ms. Ryan at jryan@hartlake.org or Ms. Grady at kgrady@hartlake.org.

During our weekly meetings, we will discuss the previous week’s NFL action, analyze upcoming matchups, explore fantasy football strategies, evaluate trades and roster moves, and help students make informed decisions for their teams. Come learn more about the NFL, develop strategic thinking skills, and enjoy some friendly competition with fellow football fans! Contact Mr. Barnes at mbarnes@hartlake.org for more information. Deadline to register is Friday, September 4th!!
