Dear OQS Families,
Thank you to everyone who attended our Open House! It was wonderful to welcome you all into the school again. We love sharing our teaching and learning with you!
On Wednesday, October 2, we have another exciting event open to families, when we celebrate National Walk to School Day. Buses will drop students off at the Quechee Green between 7:45-8:00, and if you self-transport, please do the same. We will have lots of school staff and volunteers to walk with the students back up to school. Families who join us are also invited to stay for Community Coffee & Conversation with the principal and other school staff to learn more about the new Wolf Way.
The character strength we are focusing on next week is Awareness: "I can be aware of my actions and how they affect others. I can think before I speak or act. I can take responsibility for my actions." How does your family encourage awareness? How does your child show awareness outside of school?
Have a wonderful week, everyone!
Amelia Donahey
Principal

This week’s Curiosity Corner includes a few basic terms and definitions to help you feel more comfortable with what we mean by “gender inclusivity.” Check out the list here, which includes short videos to help explain the words.

It’s that time of year already when illness is ramping up! We have begun seeing students and staff with various symptoms in our schools, so we wanted to share the guidance below regarding our illness protocol. This protocol is the same for all schools across the district.
There isn't a specific COVID protocol this year. In accordance with the current CDC guidance, COVID is being treated as any other respiratory virus. Symptoms of respiratory viruses can include fever, chills, fatigue, cough, runny nose, and headache, among others. If a student/staff member doesn't feel well enough to be in school, they should stay home. If they have fever (greater than or equal to 100℉)/vomiting/diarrhea, they must stay home. Testing for COVID is not required, but if a student/staff member tests and it is positive, they should stay home until they are feeling better. With COVID or other viruses/illness, one can return to school when:
symptoms have improved, AND
they are 24 hours free of fever (without the use of fever-reducing medication), vomiting and/or diarrhea.
*Increased precautions such as masking are recommended for 5 days, particularly if coughing a lot.
