About Valencia Theatre

Any Valencia student can audition for our two mainstage shows! Our shows rehearse during Period 7 and after school. We typically end around 4:30/5:00 but rehearsals can go later as we get closer to the show.  Typically, Tech week (the two weeks before the show) will have longer rehearsals and Show Weeks will have a 5pm call time.

What do auditions look like? 

For the Play, we will usually post 1 or 2 short monologues for you to learn and perform for the auditions. Callbacks will be held if needed to see students read scenes together. You will have a little time to read it over and prepare but these don't have to be memorized!

For the Musical, you will prepare - in advance  - a 1 minute song to sing. You can sing anything you want but you should listen to the music of our show and sing something that is similar. If you would like to be considered for a lead, you should choose one of that character's songs. You should have your music track on your phone so that you can play it for your audition. You should treat your song as you would a monologue - we should see you perform the song - not just sing:)

On your audition day, you will sing your song for us, then you will be put in a group to learn and perform a short dance.  (You can bring dance clothes to change into after your vocal audition. We will hold callbacks if needed to read scenes together on another day.
