French 1, French 2, Honors French 3, and Honors French 4
French 1 A/B is the yearlong introductory French class here at Hart, teaching students the basics of the French language and culture. No prior French knowledge is required in order to take French 1, so it is the perfect class for anyone looking to start learning from scratch. French 1 is taught in a mixture of French and English, aiming to give students the skills they need to be successful in future French courses.

French 2 A/B is a yearlong class which picks up where French 1 left off. Therefore, in order to take French 2, you must have taken French 1 previously and pass it with a C or better. French 2 is taught using more of the French language in order to further develop students' French listening skills so that they may be successful in future French courses.

Honors French 3 A/B is a yearlong class that follows French 2. In order to take Honors French 3 you must have taken French 2 previously. Honors French 3 gives students further French language skills and cultural depth, and is taught mostly in French. Usually, French 3 is a Junior or Senior class. Honors French 3 is especially beneficial to take as a class because it is an honors class, so it will boost your GPA.
Honors French 4 A/B is a yearlong class that is to be taken after Honors French 3. In order to take Honors French 4 you must have taken Honors French 3 previously. Therefore, in most cases, Honors French 4 is a senior class. Honors French 4 is the final, most advanced French class at Hart, so it will be taught primarily in French. Honors French 4 is especially beneficial to take as a class because it is an honors class, so it will boost your GPA.
