This is a one-year, college level course that provides a broad, yet rigorous, introduction to chemistry for the students whose mathematical preparation includes algebra.  The principal areas of study include:  stoichiometry, gases, thermodynamics, the electronic structure of the atom, periodic trends, chemical bonding, intermolecular forces, kinetics, chemical equilibrium, acids and bases, and electrochemistry.  After school study sessions occur periodically before exams or lab report due dates, and there will be up to four (4) Saturday classes in April/May to prepare for the Advanced Placement examination.  Lab exercises will also be provided to coincide with specific areas of instruction. The online program, WebAssign, will be used to evaluate homework.
