World Book Day is a registered charity on a mission to give every child and young person a book of their own. It’s also a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading. In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world.
This is the 22nd year there’s been a World Book Day, and on 7th March 2019, children of all ages will come together to appreciate reading. Very loudly and very happily (www.https://www.worldbookday.com/about/)
Have a chat with our visiting author, Oliver Phommavanh, in the Chiu Library this Friday at 13.00-13.30. All of the Harrow Community are welcome!
Ready, Steady, Read!
Harrow Bangkok can’t stop reading! Where is the most extreme place you've ever read a book? Is it up a tree, on a kayak or maybe even underwater? It's time to show us the most extreme place that you have ever read a book.
We are inviting all of the Harrow Bangkok Community (including parents and staff!) to take part in HISBKK Reads Challenge! Have a think about all the different, exciting and (most importantly!) SAFE places you have ever enjoyed a book, then just strike a pose, and say CHEESE!
There will, of course, be winners and prizes! To get a chance of winning, send your photos to socialmedia@harrowschool.ac.th with a short description of what’s going on. Entries are open until the end of the day, Monday 4th March. Make sure you put ‘HISBKKReads’ in the subject line so we don’t miss it!
We want to see as many as different places as possible. Remember the more creative you are, the more likely you are to win!
