Ms Barrett & Ms Campbell
Well done to all of Year 7 for your hard work and dedication to school. It has been an amazing first year with you all.
We would like to congratulate to Raheem A who received the Learner of the Term award for the Summer term. This is a fantastic achievement, and a very strong way to end the year! We would also like to say well done to the learners who received excellence certificates for their efforts this term, please see below for the winners in each tutor group.
An exciting year has now come to an end, I am sure you will all agree that it has been both enjoyable and quite tough at times, but we have all persevered and worked together. Have a great summer and make sure you take time to relax and refocus ready for Year 8.
Mr Burt & Mr Turner
Pupils in Year 8 have come a long way since September. Overall, they have had a fantastic year and I am excited to be taking them into Year 9 as their Head of Year.
Recently pupils enjoyed a variety of different workshops based around different types of civil service careers and apprenticeships. Some of these workshops included money management, construction and the army!
Lastly, I would like to say a big thank you to parents for their engagement this year, it really helps us as a school and I look forward to greeting all the pupils when we return in September.
Mr Kalish-Smith & Ms Worley
Year 9 has had an exciting end to a busy and testing year. As a reward for their work through the year, Year 9s were treated to two trips on two successive days. Kew Gardens gave learners the opportunity to explore, frolic and relax in a much needed release from classrooms. Were able to spend time in sun and shade, observing natural organisms from around the world. In contrast, our trip to Brighton Pier had our Year 9s competing in intense arcade competition, rollercoasters, thrill rides, bumper cars and more. Plenty of time in the sun overlooking the beach as well.
Year 9s were also treated to a full day off-timetable and were visited by representatives from McLaren, The Army, Mace, Stantec, Middlesex University & Brunel University. Our students had the opportunity to have their curiosity fed about jobs and future careers!
Finally, the Key Stage 3 Graduation ceremony had our learners dressed to impress in academic gowns and hats! Students were treated to speeches prepared by their form tutors, words from the Head of Year and Head Teacher, a musical performance and plenty of cake.
It's been a pleasure to be Head of Year since January, and I look forward to seeing you all back and ready for the start of KS4.
Ms Akhtar & Ms Tucker
Firstly, a huge well done to Year 10 for their dedication during mock exams; it was a pleasure to see the effort across the Year group. We will be running a mock results day to give students the full experience of sitting GCSE exams.
Work experience was also a great success with positive feedback across the board and many companies eyeing up our pupils for work opportunities further down the line! The Higher Education Careers Fair - where learners had the opportunity to engage with over 18 universities including Russell Group universities Warwick, Nottingham, Cardiff, Sheffield and Durham - was a huge success and both events have hopefully helped learners to begin carving out their future prospects.
Well done to those Year 10s who have taken part in the AQA boxing qualification, organised by Miss Tucker, and all the hard work they have put into achieving this. It will be an invaluable addition to their personal skill set and CVs. Our achievements this term do not stop there; another congratulations is in order for those learners who won the coding competition - part of the inaugural Kenton Cup - and their dedication and efforts in coming up with coding solutions; an incredibly challenging and successful feat!
As we draw close to the summer break, please encourage your child to address any gaps in learning with revision over the holidays so they are well prepared for Year 11.
I would also like to take this opportunity to wish the year group good luck with their new Head of Year next year. I know they will continue to thrive during their last year at Harrow High School.
Mr Charles
Year 12 enjoyed a fun trip to Brighton Beach this term where they enjoyed the sun and some fish and chips on the beach. We look forward to more aspirational trips next year!
We are proud to say our newly appointed Sixth Form School Captain Team has been decided:
School Captains - Janmejay Bhatt and Sheraz Kuchay
Vice Captains - Diya Limbu, Mohammed Abrid, Timeea Gyorgy
The charity team had planned to run a tuck shop on Sports Day to raise money for the Willow Foundation. Unfortunately, Sports Day was cancelled due to the weather but the team still ran a tuck shop in school and on the last day of term. Their target is to raise £200 for the charity.
During the summer break, Year 12 will be working hard on their UCAS applications, including finalising their personal statements. The Sixth Form team will be sending off their applications when they return after the summer break to enter their final year with us at HHS! We look forward to seeing their post-18 plans come to life.
