On Valentine’s Eve, the library hosted a special Blind Date with a Book event. Learners chose beautifully wrapped books, each hiding a surprise story inside, encouraging them to step outside their usual choices and discover something new. It was wonderful to see so many learners excited to take a chance on a mystery read.
The celebrations continued with themed cakes and a festive display in the canteen. The colourful decorations and sweet treats created a warm, joyful atmosphere across the school community.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the celebrations such a success.
Year 9 recently enjoyed an exciting trip to Madame Tussauds, giving learners the chance to explore one of London’s most iconic attractions.
Meeting famous figures and taking fun photos made it a memorable day, while also allowing learners to enjoy the city outside of the classroom. The trip was a great opportunity to build confidence, strengthen friendships, and create lasting memories.
We were delighted to see our learners so engaged and enthusiastic throughout the day.

Congratulations to the five winners of our Solar System Competition! As part of their Science lessons, learners designed and created impressive solar system models using paint and a range of craft materials.
One particularly outstanding model even spun around and lit up, bringing the solar system to life in a truly creative way!
The winners received chocolate, science books and other prizes. Well done to everyone who took part.

Year 11 learners visited the Tate Modern to gain inspiration for their GCSE coursework. During the trip, they explored a wide range of contemporary and modern artworks, including striking pieces by Kara Walker and Damien Hirst, as well as immersive installations in the Turbine Hall. The visit gave learners a chance to engage with different artistic techniques and styles, sparking creativity and helping them develop ideas for their own projects.
It was an exciting opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world art and to see how artists experiment with materials, scale, and concept.

This week Year 8 took part in the first of four Barclays LifeSkills workshops. Barclays LifeSkills is a programme designed to help young people develop essential skills for life, work, and the future. The programme supports learner's in building confidence, employability skills, and self-awareness through engaging, real-world learning.
The first session focused on exploring personal strengths. Learners were encouraged to identify their own skills and qualities, recognise how these can be applied in different situations, and understand the importance of self-belief. Learners participated enthusiastically and showed great insight when reflecting on what makes them unique.

Year 9 learners recently heard from a guest speaker about her family’s experiences during the Holocaust. She shared her father’s story as a doctor who moved countries several times and served in the Army.
Learners also heard about the harsh realities faced by Jewish communities including forced labour, disease, and death in Europe during the 1930s and 1940s. It was a powerful and moving insight into this dark period of history.

Your child’s co-curricular timetable is getting an upgrade!
From sport and fitness, creative activities, and games clubs, to academic support and social and wellbeing spaces, there are many ways for learners to get involved before school, during breaks, and after school.
Taking part in co-curricular activities helps learners to:
💡 Try something new
👯♀️ Build friendships and social skills
🌱 Grow confidence and resilience
🎯 Make the most of their time at Harrow High School
We encourage all learners to explore the options available and take advantage of these valuable enrichment opportunities.
Now that the weather is colder, please make sure that your child has a warm winter coat. We ask that they are of a dark colour (preferably navy or black) with some fluorescent strips. No coat should be obviously branded. For additional warmth, children are allowed to wear base-layers in white, navy or black underneath their uniform. Woollen hats, scarves and gloves are permitted, once again in dark colours. Girls can wear either skirts or trousers. Skirts must be between the knee and ankle.
All children are expected to wear the complete Harrow High School, which includes the navy v-neck jumper for everyday and the navy tracksuit top for PE. Childen should not wear their navy v-neck jumper with their PE kit.
Those that do will be asked to correct it. Please contact the school office if you need assistance. We can provide 'preloved' jumpers and tracksuit tops.
Uniform is available from Pullens, 48-50 Church Road, Stanmore, HA7 4AH. You can also order them online at www.uniform4kids.com but please order early to allow time for delivery.
Please make sure that all uniform items are clearly labelled with your child's name.
We kindly remind all learners to stay alert and keep their phones away when crossing roads near the school. Even a momentary distraction can be dangerous, so we encourage everyone to look up, listen, and be aware of traffic. By practicing this simple habit, our learners can stay safe and set a great example for others in the community.
