Ms Barrett & Ms Campbell
Year 7 have had another outstanding term. Year 7 Parents Evening was well attended (albeit virtually). There was much to celebrate and also new targets set for each learner in terms of making further progress.
We have had a number of friendship issues this term. Many Year 7 learners made new friends which sometimes means that old friendship drift. This can cause upset. Please spend some time talking to your children about adjusting to changes in friendships groups and being kind to one another.
Next term promises to be a busy one with Aspiration Trips planned for later in the term. Please look out for letters about these trips on Parent Pay, for which your consent will be required.
All Year 7 learners will need to be wearing the school summer polo and blazers when school returns on 17 April. These can be bought from Pullens (Stanmore) or Teeny Wear (Harrow Weald). Black trousers/skirts and black shoes are also compulsory items of uniform. If you have any difficulties with uniform, please contact the school office who will be happy to help.
Mr Burt & Mr Turner
Year 8 have had a busy term. Many of them have applied themselves well to both their work in class and in the co-curricular programme; taking advantage of the opportunities to engage in coding, music and drama. A growing number of learners have been involved in musical performances at Wembley Arena, while others have been 'treading the boards' at the Beck Theatre. Please encourage your child to make the most of all the activities available at school.
During Shakespeare Week, our Year 8 learners spent the day at Shakespeare's Globe watching The Tempest. Shipwrecks, storms, vibrant colours and choreographed dances brought this performance to live. It will certainly support their work back in the classroom as they study this play further.
When school returns on 17 April, Year 8 learners will be expected to wear their summer polo shirts (rather than blouses/shirts and ties.) Please can parents/carers ensure that their children are wearing the correct uniform. If there are any difficulties, please contact the school office for help.
Mr Kalish-Smith & Ms Worley
Year 9 have now received their options information and have successfully arrived at their Easter Break. The final term of Year 9 will be crucial in preparing them for the important transition to their GCSEs. Tutoring, educational interventions and careers counselling have been hard at work helping learners find their feet within a busy semester.
Year 9 students involved in the Performing Arts had a successful evening in Monday evening's Spring Soiree, entertaining families with song and drama. This came after a very well-received performance at the Annual Shakespeare Festival at the Beck Theatre in Hayes.
Ms Akhtar & Ms Tucker
Lots of fantastic achievements from Year 10 this half term: a select few learners had a great opportunity to engage in a boxing coaching course and receive an accredited qualification from AQA. A huge thank you to Miss Tucker for organising this and well done to all who worked so hard on the day. Another congratulations is in order for the boys football team who beat Park High 7-2 in their match last week - a well deserved win!
Another well done to those Year 10 pupils who took part in the Much Ado About Nothing production and subsequently helped with the drama and music productions. It was brilliant to see all the hard work, organisation and dedication they put in to a great performance.
Our Y10 footballer have also distinguished them this week expertly, beating Avanti School in the Borough final 2- 1 to harrow High School!
Lastly, please can I remind mobile phones are not to be seen on school grounds and will be confiscated if they are seen. Learners are able to approach the Year Team at any point if they would like to contact home during the school day and we will try to facilitate this.
Mr Goncalves & Ms Mehta
As we come to the end of the spring term, we look back at a very successful pre-public examination series. Year 11s sat their final mock exams before the real GCSEs in the summer. We look forward to seeing how they did after Easter. This will be a good opportunity for students to review where they have succeeded and where they need to improve. It is crucial that students are attending school everyday not to miss out on any important information given in class by teachers.
Once we come back after Easter, it is only four short weeks before the first exam! There will be interventions taking place during Easter: a timetable has been sent with information regarding this. Please make time to attend and make use of this opportunity. Also keep checking Google Classroom for any resources that your teachers find useful and are posting! It is essential that you also continue to attend any morning interventions and after school interventions which will give you that extra bit of information vital for your exams. We have been impressed with how successful the interventions have been so far and how hard you have been working in these.
You will have seen on Parent Pay the deadline for Prom and Graduation is fast approaching. We would love to celebrate your time at Harrow High with you and your family. If you have any questions regarding this please come and speak to Coach Luis or Miss Mehta.
Finally, have a lovely Easter break, take some time to relax but also use your time effectively to create revision plans and timetables. There are resources online and on Google Classroom, but if you need any help reach out to the Year Team and we will be happy to help. This will set you up perfectly for your exams and have you well prepared for your subjects. We look forward to an exciting term!
Mr Charles
It has been another busy term in the Sixth Form and all learners in Years 12 & 13 are now preparing themselves for the summer exams. They have just completed the second set of Pre-Public Examinations and they have achieved some encouraging results which should make them more confident as they move towards their AS and A level exams.
Learners in Year 13 are receiving offers from universities and many now have their firm and insurance choices. When we return after Easter, Year 12 will start to prepare for their UCAS week and work experience which will all take place after their exams.
Also this term, the Sixth Form charity team organised a fundraising event for Comic Relief, raising over £400 - a superb effort. A big thank you to all the team.
