Holocaust Memorial Day 2024

27 January 2024 marked Holocaust Memorial Day. A speaker on behalf of Holocaust remembrance was welcomed to Harrow High School to speak about their family’s personal experiences of this horrific time in history.

The Year 9 learners that attended were very well behaved, very respectful and a credit to our school. They listened attentively to the talk, were intrigued with the story and showed a lot of empathy through the questions they answered and asked of the speaker. The history department hopes this has had a positive impact and given a real-life perspective to such a significant historical event.

Performing Arts at Harrow High School

This has been a half term packed with extra curricular Drama opportunities, and the flow isn't stemming any time soon!

We were delighted to host DYCE and the Unique Theatre Company to run their theatre workshops with all of our Year 8 learners. Using the tools of drama to explore current topics of displacement, acceptance and media propaganda, all learners participated in this ground breaking work which was devised and written by the Unique Company in conjunction with learners in Harrow and Brent.

Coram Shakespeare Festival 2024

Rehearsals continue apace for the Shakespeare Festival, this year we are proud to present a re- working of King Lear where the misguided patriarch is depicted as a fashionista at the prime of her career passing down her glamorous magazine empire to her eager, money-thirsty daughters (think Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestley!).  Harrow High School learners will be performing at the Shaw Theatre, Kings Cross on Monday 19 February from 7pm. Please join us and book tickets.

GCSE Drama

GCSE Drama students are busy preparing for their showcase of pieces which span from the absurd to the intensely moving. Showcase include:  Blood Brothers,  Our Country's Good, The Pillowman and My Mother Said I Never Should. The performances will be examined by a visiting examiner on 15 March 2024. We wish them them the very best.

Following the GCSE exam performances, they will be taking a trip to see For Black Boys who have Considered Suicide When the Hue gets too Heavy at The Garrick Theatre on 21 March 2024. This trip is only for GCSE Drama learner. Please give consents and make payment as soon as possible..

The Importance of Attendance

Maintaining good attendance is a critical factor in your child's academic success and personal development. Consistent attendance ensures they receive the full benefit of what we offer at Harrow High and will help your child build essential skills for the future. Attending school every day is directly linked to academic performance. Missing school can lead to gaps in knowledge, making it difficult for your child to keep up with their school work.

We kindly request your support in ensuring your child's consistent attendance and punctuality. If your child is ill or has a valid reason for missing school, please notify the school as soon as possible. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, however we will work with you to provide support when needed.
