At the end of the second year of City Year's volunteer mentors in partnership with Harrow High the team has much to celebrate. Over 1800 hours have been devoted to mentoring, clubs, in-class support and to delivering maths and literacy initiatives.Feedback from staff and learners has been excellent.Virtually every learner undertaking the initiatives has improved and many have graduated from the programmes.
The attendance, behaviour and attainment levels of the learners being mentored have improved as well as their self-management, independence and self-awareness. Learners have enjoyed clubs such as cricket, volleyball, art, debating and a highly acclaimed Brilliant Club in Sociology for Year 8.
The team has gained considerable experience in leadership and creativity. One of the team, Shai, has been appointed to the Civil Service in Barbados based on his work at Harrow High. Our grateful thanks to Ebun, Elize, Hannah, Mann and Shai for their first class caring and devoted volunteering. They will be much missed by their learners. We wish them every success in the future.

As has become custom, Student Librarians across KS3 and 4 had their annual trip to Waterstones in St Anne's shopping centre to pick out a book to be gifted by the school. This rewards their hard work in the library all year and provides them with some excellent reading material for the summer!
This year the Student Librarians were surprised with an special trip to Central London for a literary walking tour of the capital! Courtesy of the Jack Petchey award won by a former Student Librarian, the Librarians took on the capital and learnt all about some of the famous names to have written and drawn inspiration from London. With the sun shining brightly, there was no better way to end the trip than with a visit to St James' Square with pizza, games and some of the books they picked up from Waterstones.
On the 19th July, our learners visited Dishoom in Kings Cross, savoring a range of dishes from the breakfast feast menu. The highlight? Bottomless house chai! Congratulations to our learners on completing the second year of the inspire scholars program.

The Importance of Attendance
Maintaining good attendance is a critical factor in your child's academic success and personal development. Consistent attendance ensures they receive the full benefit of what we offer at Harrow High and will help your child build essential skills for the future. Attending school every day is directly linked to academic performance. Missing school can lead to gaps in knowledge, making it difficult for your child to keep up with their school work.
We kindly request your support in ensuring your child's consistent attendance and punctuality. If your child is ill or has a valid reason for missing school, please notify the school as soon as possible. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, however we will work with you to provide support when needed.
Also note, from September 2024, local authority fines for any unauthorised absences will increase. Both parents will be fined. All children are expected to be in school during term time. No requests for holidays, weddings or visits to relatives will be authorised unless there are exceptional circumstances. Evidence support this will be required.
