Dear Students/Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to the sixth grade at PVS!! I hope your summer vacation has been wonderful. I am excited to be team teaching with Mr. Thompson again this year. Our room is an integrated classroom that recognizes, appreciates, and accepts the differences and gifts in every student. Mr. Thompson and I seek to optimize experiences that enhance the uniqueness of every child. We foster mutual respect for one another. We find this is best achieved in an inclusive classroom.
I have two adult boys and one granddaughter named Emily, whom you will hear a lot about. She lives in Tokyo, Japan, and graduated from Temple University of Japan. I rescued my dog Sophie eight years ago, and now that all of the children are out of the house, she is my pride and joy. I also love to cook, bake, garden, and crochet, but my favorite thing to do is go to the beach and hang out with my family.
This is my twenty-third year teaching in Harrison Township. I graduated from Rowan University with a Bachelor's degree in Special Education. I was drawn to the teaching profession because I love working with children. I view teaching as a constant challenge that is seldom, if ever, boring! The realization that a teacher can introduce children to a world of new information and endless possibilities motivates me to continue my quest to remain a lifelong learner, and I want my students to become the same as well. I try every day to be a good listener, to guide student learning rather than lecture, and to be willing to use varied methodologies to enhance student learning.
Please know that I am always working to do what I deem best for your child, and I strive to keep lines of communication open between parents and teachers. If you have a question or concern, please do not hesitate to contact me via email. My school email address is iannonec@harrisontwp.k12.nj.us.
Together, we can help your child have the experience of a lifetime in sixth grade. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child better!!!
See you soon!
Ms. Iannone
