Your School Counselor is Mrs. Roberts!
My name is Kristin Roberts. I am very excited to be starting my fourth year as the School Counselor at Mulberry Creek Elementary! This is my 18th year as a school counselor. I am also a licensed professional counselor and have experience doing private therapy with children and adolescents. I was born and raised in Columbus, I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Georgia, and then went on to earn Masters and Specialist degrees in School Counseling at CSU. I am married to my husband Derik, and we have two kids, Joey and Ruthie, and a sweet kitty named Rose. I love being outdoors, especially at the beach or lake, reading, dancing, and spending as much time as possible with my family and friends.
I am passionate about helping students feel their absolute best so that they can reach their full potential. I believe in treating students with dignity and respect. I believe children have the capability to handle tough emotions, manage their behaviors navigate problems, and build healthy relationships. But sometimes children need support with these challenges and that's where I come in. I can't solve all their problems, but I can certainly provide support, company and skills training while they work through them. I believe that children thrive when they feel emotionally and physically safe both at school and home, through warm, loving relationships and firm, logical boundaries and expectations. I believe children learn and behave best when they feel good about themselves.
The mission of the Mulberry Creek Elementary School Counseling Program is to assist all students in their quest to become productive citizens and responsible, lifelong learners through their academic development, personal and social growth and career exploration.
