Welcome to ONE BOOK, ONE SCHOOL!
One Book, One School 2026 kicks off the eighth year of this project that takes place every winter at Explorer Elementary. As a school, we select a book title, and for a few weeks, the entire school community—students, teachers, and families—immerses itself in the story. This creates a shared reading experience that fosters a sense of community and excitement for literature.
During the project, various activities and events are organized to enhance engagement with the chosen book. Special dress-up days are scheduled, and activities related to the book are incorporated into several parts of students' day, including specials classes and across different subjects.
To ensure that the reading experience extends beyond the school walls, our Explorer Elementary PTO generously purchases a copy of the book for each household, encouraging family members to follow along at home. This not only strengthens the bond between school and home but also promotes family literacy.
One Book, One School is a holistic and inclusive approach to reading, creating a shared literary adventure that brings the entire school community together. Through creative activities, dress-up days, and movie screenings, the project aims to make reading a fun and communal experience for everyone involved!
