Our Story...
Harper’s Warriors was founded in 2016 out of heartbreak, hope, and the incredible power of community. After Gary Miller Jr. and Amber Foose-Miller tragically lost their firstborn daughter—born still on July 4th, 2015—the Juniata County community rallied around them with love and support. The generosity poured into their lives allowed them to give Harper the beautiful farewell she deserved, including a viewing, funeral, and a hand-carved, vibrant butterfly tombstone that now rests at Mifflintown Cemetery.
Since then, Harper’s Warriors has been able to bless 15 families through our annual 16” softball tournament—our largest and most heartfelt event of the year. Each year, our Board selects a local family/families who have faced life-altering medical events, and 100% of the proceeds from the tournament go directly to them. It’s more than a game—it’s a day of remembrance, unity, and giving. What began as a way to honor one child’s memory has become a beacon of hope for many. We are forever grateful to the people who continue to stand with us and carry this mission forward. We’ve had corn hole tournaments, bingos, meal trains planned, card showers, dinner fundraisers, food giveaways at fishing derby, raffle fundraisers, one of the biggest Chinese auctions in central Pa, community days, and a painting party. We’ve been on ABC News twice and made Female Athlete News.
