Guidance Curriculum
The school counselor delivers guidance lessons in a classroom setting through differentiated activities. The purpose is to teach students transferable skills that they can apply to real world situations. These lessons are preventative in nature and advance the 4 domains of educational, career, personal, and social development. These lessons vary and will change depending on the age group’s developmental stage.
Responsive Services
The school counselor is available to intervene with students who are experiencing obstacles that are impeding their educational, personal, social, or career development. Interventions can be preventative, remedial, or crisis related.
Individual Planning
The school counselor provides opportunities to meet with students individually to discuss progress in their educational, personal, social, or career goals. The counselor also provides postsecondary opportunity information to student and parents/guardians.
System Support
The school counselor assesses data, establishes needs, and coordinates community resources to indirectly support students. The counselor also offers support to faculty and staff.
