Welcome to a fun and exciting year in 6th grade Social Studies! Needless to say, the last few years were unprecedented in terms of the challenges that we faced and overcame. Focusing on this resilience will allow us to grow as individuals and learners throughout the year. We will also emphasize the importance of connections as we create a classroom community in which everyone feels included.
This year we will explore the geography of the Western and Eastern Hemispheres, after we spend some time learning basic geography skills. As part of our study of World Geography, we will introduce concepts in government, economics, and culture as we apply them to regions around the world. I hope your bags are packed because we're going around the world in 180 days (approximately)!

About Me: I am originally from a small town called Mason, just south of Lansing. I am an only child and I was fortunate enough to travel around the country and internationally with my parents. I guess that's why I love teaching geography so much! I attended Michigan State University and graduated in 2015 with a degree in Social Studies Education. This will be my eighth year teaching 6th grade social studies at Harper Creek Middle School and I am excited for many more adventures ahead!

We will be utilizing Google Classroom to manage many of our class resources, activities, and assignments this year. Students will be accessing Google Classroom frequently both at school and at home. Although I will be assisting students in joining the correct Google Classroom, here are the links to each class, for your convenience:
