The HCS Mental Health Support Team will provide evidenced-based, culturally competent, and person-centered mental health services to qualifying K-12 students who have a mental health need that is not able to be addressed adequately at the school level and who have a barrier in place preventing necessary mental health treatment outside of the school building. We adhere to strict ethical standards to ensure all students have equal access to quality mental health services.
Mental Health Support Team Services may include the following:
Review of all educationally relevant records (IEP, 504, etc.), and/or behavior management plan (formal or informal)
Interviews with the parent(s), student, teachers, and others involved in the education of the student
School/classroom observations
Classroom interventions (may include a functional behavior assessment and behavior management plan)
Counseling for school-related problems
Care coordination with other providers
Appropriate community referrals as needed
Sessions may be held virtually due to the current pandemic as all safety guidelines and precautions are being implemented.
