Wellness Pointe CBSG- Kids' Connection Program
We are excited to partner with Wellness Pointe in providing our 5th grade students with extra support this school year through extensive guidance lessons on relationships, attachment to school, motivation, and drug abuse. We look forward to eight weeks of learning together. If you wish for your child to NOT PARTICIPATE in the program, please reach out to me, Mrs. Watkins, at school.
GT testing dates
Students will be screened in 2nd grade- students who are flagged will receive an online
CoGAT evaluation.
Kindergarten GT nominations will be evaluated with paper CoGAT and NNAT forms, as well as, a portfolio submission.
Intermediate GT will only be tested with an online CoGAT form for students in 4th grade.
Gifted vs. High-Achiever........Is my child gifted?
How long does testing take?
GT testing is an extensive process that gives a whole picture of the child's abilities. There are two cognitive tests and a portfolio that measures art, puzzles, and number relationships. Completing all these activities with each student during their busy schedule takes time. After testing begins, it typically takes 2-3 weeks to complete the testing. Afterwards, a committee meets to determine possible placement into the GT program based on the child's performance. No student names are released until placement has been determined. Parents will be notified as soon as the committee reaches a decision.
