Reading for just 21 minutes a day outside of school leads to higher reading test scores and an increase of 1.8 million words read annually.

In fourth grade, we do ask that students read 20 minutes daily outside of school.

Asking your child open-ended questions about what he/she is reading helps to nurture his/her exploration of ideas in the text.  Here are some examples of questions that you can ask your child depending on your child's reading stage.
