Dear Caregiver,

Thank you for being a partner in your student's education. Not only am I a teacher, but I am also a member of your community. I am invested in helping Harmony students develop their potential!

As you are probably aware, each student is required to pass an End of Course (STAAR) test prior to graduation. Rest assured that all of the tested material will be taught during the school year. In the event that a student does not pass this test during the first administration, there will be many other opportunities to retake it before graduation. The State of Texas passed a bill in 2021 (HB 4545) that requires all students that do not pass an EOC/STAAR test to receive targeted intervention in the subject area they did not pass. Please know that I care about your child's growth over a test score, and I avoid enhancing the pressure that they already experience. I want each child to feel successful.

As your student's teacher, my goal is to help each child develop critical thinking skills, greater reading comprehension, and written and oral communication skills. These abilities will help build a foundation for each child's future, whether in higher education or in the workforce.

Respectfully,

Mrs. Patton
